Scrapbook containing information about Church since April 1830, arranged in chronological, day-by-day format. Andrew Jenson began to compile Journal History circa 1896 and Historian's Office/Historical Department/Family and Church History Department staff members have continued to add material ever since.
Most of Journal History consists of clippings from newspapers and magazines or typed transcriptions of published materials. Compilation also includes extracts from minutes, journals and diaries, correspondence, and other sources, but most such entries relate to nineteenth-century events.
Journal History is currently compiled by members of Church History Library staff, who have custody of volumes for most recent months. Beginning in 1985, selected items from national and international wire services, newspapers, periodicals, and television broadcasts that are included in NEXIS data base have also been placed in Journal History.
