Scope and Content

Journals dated 1894-1906 record Farr's travels by railroad to California, Mexican colonies, and Eastern states to visit family and friends. Journals also describe visits to David H. Smith, son of Joseph Smith.

Correspondence includes 1881 letter from Moses Thatcher in Mexico City pertaining to missionary work in Mexican Mission; 1883-1884 letters from John Henry Smith in England regarding missionary work in England and Germany; and 1889 letter from F. A. Brown in Holland reporting on missionary work and progress of Dutch translation of Book of Mormon.

Also included in papers is 1882 letter from D. H. Peery sent with letter to Farr from David H. Smith. Letters pertaining to Farr's association with various railroad companies and Central Pacific Railroad president Leland Stanford are also included.

Financial records include daybooks, ledgers, deeds, and mining papers. There are also papers referring to legal matters and patriarchal blessings.

The following printed materials were removed from the collection and are housed individually in the Library: (1)Constitution of the State of Deseret. (3)Governor's message to the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Utah, Fourteenth annual session, 1864 Dec. 12. (4) Report of A. P. Rockwood, supt. of Zion's Cooperative Fish Association to the Utah Territorial Legislature, 1878 Jan. 1. (5) The Book of Mormon, 1841. First European edition (Liverpool).

Farr was president of Weber Stake, 1851-1870, mayor of Ogden, Utah territorial legislator, and patriarch.
